From Forest Resources to Material Applications: HOYAO Visits NTU Experimental Forest’s Wood Utilization Center
HOYAO visited the Wood Utilization Center of the NTU Experimental Forest to observe how forest resources move through research, processing, and product application.
Technical exchange｜From forest resources to wood applications
The HOYAO team visited the Wood Utilization Center of The Experimental Forest, College of Bio-Resources and Agriculture, National Taiwan University, in Shuili, Nantou. In discussion with Director Chuang Min-Chieh, the visit focused on how forest resources are developed through research, processing, testing, and design into materials, furniture, and everyday applications.
The facility supports teaching practice, experimental research, and outreach, with capabilities spanning sawmilling, kiln drying, wood preservation, and wood processing. Product displays also present applications developed from wood and bamboo materials and processing research.
Material value comes not only from raw feedstock, but also from resource management, research accumulation, processing technology, design translation, and real use. The site visit gave HOYAO a clearer view of the pathway from forest resources to material applications, and useful field observations for later materials development, technical validation, and industry connection.
Going forward, HOYAO will continue connecting research institutions, material sites, and industry resources—working from practical needs to advance bio-based materials, wood and bamboo resources, and related product applications.
